Let’s keep this super real. I mean, it is kinda my brand, right?
Ok, this is gonna open like a sob story, but hang in there and I promise it gets better;)

I was:
-a student in Catholic school for over 9 years, (two of which were at an all-girl school), thus I am currently deconstructing some serious patriarchal religious trauma…(so of course…)
-15 and pregnant before MTV tried to make it cool. (Ya know…not one single person came to my door with boom mics and paychecks. Ain’t that some shit?)
My son and I lived in a car the first two years of his life.
(Spoiler alert, I do now have a degree. We are ok. Now.)
Also a spoiler alert, it isn't in art…it’s in RN nursing. I was an adolescent psychiatric registered nurse for over a decade. It took a toll, that position, among other things.
To keep this a readable length, allow me to fast forward to now, and just quote my first therapist:
I have been diagnosed as having...ahem…
*adjusts glasses*
*puts on super-professional voice*
"PTSD, chronic, severe;
ADHD, combined type, chronic, severe;
Anxiety disorder, chronic, severe;
Pain, chronic, ongoing"
Panic Disorder, NOS
(update, 2022- we get to add OCD and being “positive” for some traits of Autism; dammit I am fun at parties, y’all)

Soooo….
Art is not only a huge part of my mental health, but it is my therapy, my craft, my trade, my livelihood, my nemesis, and my best friend.
It is cathartic.
It is brutal in its honesty.
Every piece that I complete has a little piece of my soul tucked away inside.
(Or…ya know… slung across the canvas.
Depends on the day, really.)
